The UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, 8-step roadmap

Human rights:

The UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights just released an 8-step roadmap. Businesses need to develop measured action and document progress.

This is our “light version” for businesses to consider.

United nations guiding principles is your compass

Businesses will need to develop “respect” for human rights as a core element in their sustainable strategies. They do so by committing to take action coherently, and by tackling climate issues from a systemic view. This includes digital.

As a business, expect to see policies become increasingly mandatory and enforce coherence around initiatives. This means it’s time to put commitments into practise, by leaning on governance frameworks seeking to challenge business practises that don’t deliver on “respect”.

In a nutshell: Measured and documented progress is a must, pledges on its own won’t cut it!

As a business, you will need to engage stakeholders to reinforce, protect, respect and remedy.

Furthered responsibilities

The financial sector should shape and drive momentum by aligning and driving the Social principles behind the ESGs to their business model.

Overall, expect to see less guesswork and greater global commitment to the United Nations Guiding Principles.

At Planet One Point Five, we help businesses through this transformation across all the ESGs. We measure, document, enable change, and communicate progress. Reach out and let’s discuss how we get you ahead of the curve.

We urge you to read the full UN working group road map and it’s outlined 8-steps and begin your journey of taking strategic action today.

Measured and documented progress is a must, pledges on its own won’t cut it!
